今天展示在这里的是三位来自中国且在中国艺术界都有着广泛学术影响的水墨艺术家的作品。他们的年龄相仿、经历相似，虽然作品风格不同、审美倾向各异，但以艺术的方式表达对于人类命运的关注，追问生命的价值与意义，是三位艺术家一致的艺术理想与精神诉求。

“Spiritual Pursuit Woven in Chinese Water-Ink Paintings, an Exhibition of Recent Works by Liang Zhanyan, Yuan Wu and Zhang Jiangzhou” presents three Chinese artists who are influential in China. With similar age and life experience, it is their common aspiration and spiritual pursuit to express their focus on human destiny and to inquire about the value and meaning of life, albeit in different aesthetic styles . 

梁占岩的创作以中国西部民间戏曲“秦腔”艺人为题。通过对秦腔艺人演艺生活的意象化描绘，集中表现了中国西部农民置身艰涩生活环境中的精神狂欢，是对拥抱生命、超越生命的中华生命美学的艺术诠释。

Mr. Liang Zhanyan focuses on performers of Qinqiang, a traditional folk opera in northwestern China. Through the imagery depiction, his works collectively reflect the spiritual carnival of Chinese peasants in harsh environment in his interpretation of the Chinese life aesthetics which embraces and transcends life.

袁武用细腻而稳健的笔触，深情刻画了一组朝圣中的中国西部藏人形象。画面中虔诚凝滞的面庞、一致的朝向，将观者引向对来世与天堂的无限遐想。

Mr. Yuan Wu portrays a group of Tibetan pilgrims affectionately with delicate and steady brush strokes. The pious and dignified faces in a consistent direction lead viewers to infinite reverie of the afterlife and heaven.

张江舟的作品源自对生命脆弱、年华易逝的深刻体验。通过由年轻女性肢体所构成的意象画面，完成了对人生苦难的诗性表达，阐述了从容淡定的人生态度，实现着对生命意义、生命价值的终极追问。

Mr. Zhang Jiangzhou's works are inspired by his profound experience of the fragile and transient human life. Through images of body language of young girls, he completes his poetic expression of sufferings in life, elaborates the calm attitude towards life and questions the ultimate meaning and value of life.

假如我们将三位艺术家的艺术诉求看作是一个整体，那么梁占岩的现世狂欢、袁武的仰望天空、张江舟的天堂曼妙，共同构成的正是中华文化“天人合一”的宏阔景观。

If we take their artistic pursuit as a whole, the carnival of current life of Mr. Liang Zhanyan, the star gazing of Mr. Yuan Wu and the heavenly beauty of Mr. Zhang Jiangzhou constitute jointly the grand view originated from the important Chinese cultural element of harmony between nature and man. 

中国水墨艺术有着悠久的历史，承载着中华文化深刻的精神内涵。不同于大量珍藏在世界各大博物馆中的中国古典绘画，当代中国水墨艺术无论是在绘画语言方式，还是在精神诉求上都有着鲜明的当代特质，并一直以来始终是中国艺术的主流形态。

The Chinese water-ink painting boasts a long history, and carries a profound spirit of Chinese culture. Different from the classical Chinese paintings seen in major museums in the world, the contemporary Chinese water-ink art, which is actually the mainstream of Chinese art today, has distinctive contemporary features in both its artistic language and spiritual pursuit.

鉴于对中加文化交流的良好愿望，希望本次展览活动为增进中加文化的相互理解与认同，加深加拿大朋友对于中国水墨艺术的了解有所裨益。

To promote the cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Canada, we sincerely wish that this exhibition may enhance the mutual understanding between the two cultures.
